Exploring Good to Know: Feature-by-Feature Tour
Your documents hold answers to thousands of questions—they’re just buried beneath pages of text, tables and PDFs. Good to Know turns those static files into an intelligent, searchable and shareable knowledge base. In this article we’ll unpack every feature and look at how they work together.
1. Friction-less Upload & Import
Drag-and-drop any file straight into Good to Know. Prefer cloud storage? Connect your Google Drive in a single click and sync selected folders automatically.
Accepted formats: PDF, DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, Markdown, AsciiDoc, HTML, CSV, PNG, JPEG, TIFF, BMP, WEBP.
Behind the scenes we stream files directly to a secure processing queue—no local caching, no size limits. After processing files are immediately deleted from our servers, we do not store them.
Google Drive Integration
• OAuth-based connection – we never see your credentials.
• Incremental sync – only new or changed files are processed.
• Granular permissions – choose individual files or entire folders.
2. Smart Document Processing
Once a file hits our servers an AI pipeline gets to work:
- Content Extraction – text, images and tables are parsed with OCR fallback.
- Automatic Summarisation – a concise overview is generated in under 2s.
- Table-of-Contents Builder – headings are detected and linked.
- Metadata Extraction – author, dates, entities and custom fields are captured.
- Vector Embeddings – sentences are converted into high-dimension vectors ready for semantic search.
Everything happens asynchronously so you can keep working while your knowledge base grows.
3. Lightning-Fast Semantic Search
Forget brittle keyword queries. Type natural language such as “show me all invoices from Q3 over $5 000”. Our vector database measures contextual similarity, ranks the most relevant passages and highlights them inside the original document.
What makes it fast?
• FAISS-powered index hosted on GPU-backed nodes.
• Real-time incremental updates – new documents are searchable seconds after upload.
• Smart filters – mix traditional facets (date, author) with semantic relevance.
4. Interactive Knowledge Graph
As more documents arrive, Good to Know detects relationships—citations, shared entities, temporal overlaps—and plots them on an interactive graph. This bird’s-eye view helps you:
- Discover hidden connections between documents.
- Trace compliance dependencies.
- Jump directly to linked passages.
5. Chat About Your Documents
Our built-in assistant uses Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to ground every answer in your own content. Ask follow-ups, request summaries, or export citations—each response comes with source links so you can verify instantly.
Conversation Memory
Conversations are stored privately, enabling continuous threads and team hand-offs without losing context.
6. Team Collaboration & Permissions
Invite teammates with just an email address. Define organisation-wide roles (viewer, editor, admin) or set document-level ACLs for fine-grained control. Activity logs keep an audit trail of every read, write and export.
7. The 3-Step Workflow Revisited
- Upload ‑ get your documents in.
- AI Processing ‑ let the pipeline structure and index everything.
- Ask & Discover ‑ search, chat and visualise insights.
That’s all it takes to turn dusty folders into living knowledge. Stay tuned—coming features like automated alerts, API access and multi-language support are already in the works.
